Originally established in 1899 and located 21 miles east of Dallas, Forney Independent School District (FISD) is a progressive district with a proud history of excellence in academics as well as in other areas of student achievement. FISD places great importance on a solid, well-rounded academic curriculum and instructional programs for our students based on the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) curriculum standards approved by the State Board of Education in 1997. FISD's mission statement: In partnership with parents and the community, the District shall create and sustain an environment to maximize the potential of each learner.

FISD currently serves more than 15,000 students at 18 campuses: nine elementary, three intermediate (5th & 6th grade), three middle (7th & 8th grade), two high schools, and a learning academy.
