The Forney Parks and Recreation Department plays an active role in the city's infrastructure, and residents are pleased that the city provides ample outdoor opportunities for fun, exercise, and social events.

Among the most exciting news is the announcement of a new 127 acre community park and sports complex. The park will feature four lighted softball fields and 12 lighted soccer fields; hiking and biking; tennis, volleyball and basketball courts; and a splash pad waterpark. Opened on schedule in March 2009, the development is located on FM 548 between FM 1641 and FM 741.
